Smurfs (Movie) Review

On opening weekend the smurfs movie made over $36 million. The Smurfs was once a T.V show that our parents watched and loved. Now they made it into a movie that is entertaining for all audiences. The storyline of the Smurfs starts off with them inside their village where everything is going great! Until Gargamel (the evil wizard) follows clumsy back to the smurfs village and terrorizes them. The smurfs are forced to leave in an emergency exit and a few smurfs head the wrong way (Papa Smurf, Clumsy, Grouchy, Gutsy, Brainy, and Smurfette). They end up in a dead end but on the other side is a portal which is only open on a blue moon. Instead of getting caught by Gargamel Papa Smurf leads the smurfs into the portal. Only to find that the portal leads to (what they think is a mysterious world) New York the most daunting city of all.

Not knowing where they are or what to do the Smurfs hitch a ride on a local human named Patrick. But Patrick's wife was soon expecting a baby and he was under alot of pressure at his marketing job, which made it the inopportune time for the smurfs to arrive. Now the Smufs must avoid getting caught by Gargamel in New York while waiting for the stars to realign and create a blue moon to get back to their village. When the smurfs and Gargamel are in New York it is quite humorous because neither of them know anything about where they are or how to act in a big city.

The smurfs movie is great for kids it offers a cute entertaining parts while still having a decent amount of action and excitement. The animation by combining the real world and the Smurfs world was astounding and looked incredibly real and clear. The actors gave it their all and had many emotions when needed, they got into their characters very well and did great at their jobs. Overall the Smurfs is fun, adventurous and heartwarming which is why i would give the Smurfs a rating of 4.5 out of 5.
