Hunger Games (Movie) Review

The Hunger Games had the biggest ever opening weekend for a non-sequel film. It made about $152.2 million! But money isn't everything... some viewers were not impressed by the movie because it was not as accurate as the book. The Hunger Games is set in a futuristic world where the Capitol selects a boy and girl from each of the twelve districts to fight to the death. They do this every year and it happens on live television like a sport that everyone in the country watches. Jennifer Lawrence (playing Katniss Everdeen) trained for over a year with the worlds best archer to be ready and qualified to play Katniss in the movies. I thought that this was quite amazing but and when it came to filming I thought that that Jennifer Lawrence brought out the expressions that Katniss had in the books, she was also very convincing and brave. Josh Hutcherson (playing Peeta Mellark) did a very good job getting into the role of Peeta. For most people he was exactly what they thought Peeta would be like in the movies. And Liam Hemsworth (playing Gale Hawthorne) wasn't in too many scenes but when he was I thought he was great as Gale and should continue playing Gale in the later movies to come. The makeup and wardrobe team did amazing making the characters come to life. In the scene where Katniss just found Peeta blended into the ground it looked very real and amazed most people who saw it. I like how they still incorporated the part when rue died and they show District 11 (where Rue is from). It shows the rebellion starting to form and bonding between the capitols. But some people who have not read the book found the movie quite confusing in some parts and asked questions like.. what did the three finger salute mean and got confused by the love triangle in the movie. The girl on fire scene blew people away just like in the books, everyone was exited for these scenes. But by far my favorite scene was the countdown and how intense it was. It started the excitement for the games and I couldn't take my eyes off of the screen. When Rue teams up with Katniss it was exactly how I thought it would be and I love how they kept the finish to the movie the same as the book, when the game maker is forced to eat the deadly berries and Katniss and Peeta returning to District 12. Woody Harrelson (playing Haymitch) was also great in the movie and had a few funny lines that made the movie even better! Although the movie wasn't exactly like the book it was amazing and one of my favorites! This is why I would Give the Hunger Games Movie a rating of 4 out of5. Have a great day and MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR!!
